Confronting his son and rekindling the fire, here are Sergio Conceiçao’s first words at AC Milan: “You have seen the number of times I have been excluded in my career” – All football

It’s official, Sergio Conceiçao is the new coach of AC Milan. Along with former Standard players Siramana Dembele and Vedran Runje, who are part of his staff, the Portuguese coach will face his son Francisco in his first match on the Rossoneri bench.

Sergio Conceiçao had not yet found a club since his departure from FC Porto last summer. While he had been cited at FC for a surprising return, the Portuguese coach finally replaced Paulo Fonseca on the AC Milan bench.

The former Standard player joined the Rossoneri this week, with two other former Rouches. Siramana Dembele is his assistant coach, Vedran Runje the goalkeeping coach. Conceiçao, for his first match, will face the Juventus of a certain Francisco, his son.

“I have five children, we call each other all the time. Francisco is my son at home, but on the field, he will be just an opponent like any other,” he declared during his conference press presentation.

Sergio Conceiçao wants to set AC Milan on fire again

“I want to see a passionate team, with fire in their eyes. It’s not negotiable. You’ve already seen the number of times I’ve been excluded in my career, because I experience matches with a lot of passion . I ask my players to do the same.”

Sergio Conceiçao will therefore have the difficult task of getting the Rossoneri back on track, only eighth in Serie A. “It wouldn’t be fair for me to talk about the team’s problems now, Paulo Fonseca is a good coach and a man I know for a long time. Several factors can explain the situation, and we must not forget that in Italy, every match is a real challenge,” concluded the Portuguese.
