In the pipeline for several days, the departure of Ignatius Ganago from FC Nantes should materialize tomorrow, Tuesday. Ouest confirms that the Cameroonian striker is expected on the other side of the Atlantic to undergo his medical examination at the New England Revolution. If it goes well, he will commit to a six-month loan renewable for the same period. The contract comes with a quasi-obligatory purchase option of €3.5 million. We should therefore not see the former player again in the yellow jersey, he who arrived in 2022 and is still under contract for a year and a half with the FCN. Unless…

Problems with his injured knee?

Unless a physical problem derails the medical examination. This is the hypothesis raised by Emmanuel Merceron on X last night: “Be careful with the VM anyway…”. As a reminder, Ignatius Ganago suffered a ruptured cruciate ligament in his left knee in November 2023 which caused him to miss the entire rest of last season. Since his return, Antoine Kombouaré has only used it sparingly, as if the attacker had never regained the fullness of his means. Certainly, he is blocked in his left winger position by Moses Simon and up front by Matthis Abline but his low playing time since August (232 minutes) could be explained by the after-effects of his injury.

Emmanuel Merceron has all the more reason to worry that Ganago is a fragile player, having totaled 341 days of absence and the equivalent of a championship in missed matches (38) since his arrival on the banks of the 'Wandering around with six different injuries…
