Eliesse Ben Seghir looked back on his memorable year with AS Monaco, praising Walid Regragui who greatly helped him improve his level of play.
In a report broadcast by the French program Téléfoot, Ben Seghir gave a positive assessment of his season, looking back on the best moments of his year. The Atlas Lion took the opportunity to highlight the important role played by his coach, Walid Regragui, in his progress.
“My goal against Benfica was a special moment for me, because I learned a new way of moving around the pitch. It was Walid Regragui who advised me to attack the penalty area and trust my teammates if I wanted to become a great player.he declared, before returning to his choice to wear the Atlas Lions jersey.
“I knew I wanted Morocco. I understand that this decision sparked a lot of debate, but I was ready to make this choice, and I absolutely do not regret it.”he stressed.
And to add: “I chose to represent the Moroccan team out of conviction. Regragui contacted me several times to talk about joining the Atlas Lions. My parents are of Moroccan origin, and I have a strong connection to Morocco, even though I did not grow up there. So this choice was obvious to me.”
The young talent is determined to help the national team win the Africa Cup of Nations and the World Cup. “Of course it is difficult, but it is not impossible, especially with the many talents we have”he admits.
At 19 years old, Eliesse Ben Seghir participated in 23 matches this season between Ligue 1, the Champions League and the Coupe de France. He scored 7 goals and delivered 4 assists. He is under contract with AS Monaco until the summer of 2027, while several major clubs, notably FC Barcelona, are looking to recruit him.
It is worth noting that Ben Seghir played 8 matches with the senior Moroccan national team, scoring 3 goals, and won the bronze medal with the Olympic team during the 2024 Paris Games.
