Heavy. Catherine Ringer reads Alice Mendelson on January 21

The singer of the legendary Rita Mitsouko will be on stage at the Espace Robert Hossein for a show in partnership between Gespe and the culture department of the city of Lourdes.

The opportunity for spectators to discover it in an astonishing register, that of poetry. she will perform the poems of Alice Mendelson, aged 95, from her collection “The eroticism of living, 95 years and a whole life before”. She will be accompanied on the piano by Grégoire Hetzel on a production by Mauro Gioa.

Everything comes together to make this evening a lovely suspended moment, carrying the voice of this poet who was born in Longlaville to Polish Jewish revolutionary parents, both hairdressers. She intended to become a schoolteacher but, when she was 16, her dream eluded her because she could not enroll in the Ecole Normale d’Teacher, which was then forbidden to Jews. Later, she and her mother miraculously survived the Vel d’Hiv roundup while her father was arrested and deported to Auschwitz.

Dramas that shape the character of the young girl who joins the resistance, under a false identity within the FFI.

Passionate about writing, she has always written down her joys, her sorrows and her pains and will only consider being published at the age of 95.

In the meantime, she will have fulfilled her dream of teaching but will also be a storyteller and will lead a writing workshop until the age of 90.

It is therefore all this richness of several lives in one, that Catherine Ringer decided to tell, through the beautiful poems of Alice Mendelson on Tuesday January 21, in Lourdes.

A unique moment, to be experienced with passion with “The Eroticism of Living” which above all reflects a furious desire to live, to follow through on one’s desires despite adversity and despite the obstacles that have arisen on the path to the poetess.
