Beerschot is failing in its duties and has debts notably to the Belgian football federation, to Voetbal Vlaanderen, relating to the resale compensation for Issa Soumaré and to several clubs, said the Licensing Commission.

Beerschot, in addition to its financial problems, is in last place in the Belgian championship with 12 points and only 2 victories in 20 days.

Beerschot assures that it is doing what is necessary and that its ban “will be lifted on Monday”

Beerschot assured that it had taken the necessary steps to regularize its financial situation before the Licensing Commission, the Antwerp club reacted on Saturday in a press release.

After a hearing before the Licensing Commission on December 20, Beerschot, bottom of the championship, had until noon on Friday to regularize its situation. Due to a lack of evidence received, the Licensing Commission issued a ban on transfers to Beerschot.

“Our club has been served with a temporary transfer ban by the Belgian football federation. We are aware of this sanction and have in the meantime taken measures to have this ban lifted as quickly as possible,” published Beerschot in its press release on Saturday evening.

“Our shareholder already paid the necessary amount a few days ago, but due to the holidays, the receipt of the money was delayed. This made it impossible to settle the debts earlier. On Monday, the outstanding debts will be settled and the evidence will be sent to the licensing department As soon as this is done, the transfer ban will be lifted,” guarantees Beerschot.
