This is a terribly shocking scene in Algeria. Salah Bouchama, ES Sétif midfielder, received a violent projectile to the head, shortly before the final whistle of the match against US Biskra (0-0), this Friday, December 27 at the Stade du 18-Février of Biskra.
The player, who collapsed with his face bleeding, was not evacuated. Bouchama, 23, continued this meeting, counting for the 15th day of the Algerian championship, with an imposing bandage around his head. The referee of the match, Tayeb Bouderbal, continued the match normally.
The projectile in question would be a stone thrown from the stands. The consequences of such an act could have been dramatic.
Hooliganism and insecurity are deeply eating away at Algerian stadiums, which have often been the scene of the most appalling scenes.
More than ten years ago, on August 23, 2014, Cameroonian Albert Ebossé Bojongo died tragically at the Stade du 1er-Novembre-1954 in Tizi-Ouzou, after a stone throw, in mysterious conditions.
The family of the deceased remained in total incomprehension and the autopsy carried out in Cameroon, concluding in a rupture of the cervical vertebrae, was diametrically opposed to that carried out in Algeria. “They killed my child, like a dog,” the deceased’s mother told RFI.
