It’s only nine months since Brighton were in the Europa League last 16, losing 4-1 on aggregate to Roma, despite winning the second leg 1-0, and Seagulls skipper Lewis Dunk wants another chance in Europe.

“Ultimately we want to qualify for Europe again, I think that’s a realistic goal,” Dunk wrote in the matchday program.

“We showed what we are capable of by beating Man City, Tottenham, Man United and Newcastle, but we are also aware of the competitive nature of the division, as was highlighted in our home games against Ipswich, Wolves. and Southampton. You have to participate in it every week because every team has players who can hurt you.

On boss Fabian Hurzeler’s half-season at the club, Dunk adds: “Our training sessions are intense and we play while we train but everyone has responded very well to the new coach, we are enjoying our football, that’s for sure.

“I think he’s a very good guy and someone who wants to win. He is truly passionate about the game and wants his players to improve.
