The 18-year-old athlete was chosen by the New Brunswick team in the first round of the QMJHL international auction. The one who was called by the Habs at 134e rank last summer played five games with the Brooks Bandits, in the BCHL, a junior A circuit in British Columbia. Vecvanags posted four wins, posting a 3.18 GAA and .881 save percentage.
On the sidelines of the Bettman circuit draft, the Canadian’s director of player personnel and director of amateur recruitment, Martin Lapointe, looked bad by stating, before the QMJHL international selection session, that the goaltender was going to play with the Armada from Blainville-Boisbriand. This team had to speak to the 22e level and finally bet on another cerberus after the Titan had beaten him three ranks earlier.
