Despite this announcement during the month of July and the absence of a sporting prospect in Lombardy, Origi strangely did not decide to leave the club before the end of the transfer window. The reason? It is above all fiscal. Arriving in Italy in 2022, the player benefits from the famous “growth decree” which allows him to benefit from tax advantages as a foreign worker (50% of salary exempt from taxes). However, to benefit from it in 2024, he was required to spend at least half the year (183 days) in the country.
Since August, Divock Origi has been training – not with Milan Futuro (the B team) – but alone with a personal trainer, dividing his time between Rome and Florence. All while earning… more than 300,000 euros per month. If he wishes, the Belgian can nevertheless unblock his situation this January by requesting a transfer which would also improve AC Milan’s bank account. His current contract runs until June 2026.
