Cycling lovers in Briançonnais will be well spoiled again. On August 26, 2025, the legendary Vuelta, a cycling competition which crosses Spain, will pass through the towns of Montgenèvre and Briançon, but also through the Col du Lautaret to reach Isère for the fourth stage.
The next day, the runners will head towards Spain to tour it. “This is excellent news for our City and for the people of Briançon. The passage of the Tour de France last July made us vibrate with images that no one will forget in the Causeway. I am delighted that our city is once again the scene of these great sporting moments”, enthused Arnaud Murgia, mayor of Briançon, at the microphone of BFM DICI.
“Wonderful stopover”
After being a stage town for the Tour de France in 2022 and the first French transit town in 2024, the town of Briançon will be crossed for the first time in its history by the riders of the Tour of Spain.
The runners will descend the Col du Montgenèvre, then travel through the Serre Chevalier valley before tackling the Col du Lautaret.
