Ukrainian attacking midfielder Mykhailo Mudryk has tested positive for a “banned substance”. The Chelsea player reacted on Tuesday and assured that he had never tried to take drugs.
Ukrainian Chelsea striker Mykhailo Mudryk announced on Tuesday that a “prohibited substance” had been discovered in his urine during a doping control, but he denied having sought to doped. “I can confirm that I was informed that a (urine) sample that I gave to the FA (English Federation, editor’s note) contained a prohibited substance”the 23-year-old wrote on social media, saying “in shock”.
“I have never knowingly used a banned substance or broken any rule (of the anti-doping code) and I am working closely with my team to understand what may have happened.”he adds. “I know I did nothing wrong and I hope to be back on the pitch soon”further asserts the player, arguing that “process confidentiality” not to say more, particularly with regard to the substance in question.
Chelsea “unreservedly supports the Federation’s anti-doping program”
The Chelsea club has confirmed that it has been informed by the FA of a “abnormal result” regarding a urine sample provided by Mudryk during a “routine check”. “The club and Mykhailo fully support the FA’s anti-doping program and all our players, including Mykhailo, are regularly tested”assured the Blues.
Mudryk, recruited for the colossal sum of 100 million euros in 2023, risks up to four years of suspension. He has played fifteen matches this season with Chelsea. His last appearance with the Blues dates back to the victory (2-0) in the Conference League on November 28 on the pitch of the German club Heidenheim. He scored his third goal of the season. But since then, the Ukrainian has not played any of his team’s five matches.
