The president of La Liga is not kind to the new Super League project, called Unify League and unveiled this Tuesday by A22 Sports. For Javier Tebas, this update endangers the stability of national leagues and clubs.
Barely presented by its promoter A22 Sports, the Unify League project is already contested. Already opposed to the Super League, Javier Tebas was once again outraged this Tuesday. “They produce formats as if they were churros, without analyzing or studying the economic and sporting effects on the competitions,” criticized the president of La Liga. A22 has just sent a proposal to UEFA and FIFA in order to obtain “official recognition” of its competitions.

Among the updates announced, A22 says the qualification system will be based on performance in national championships. “The television model they are proposing only favors the big clubs (and they know it…) while endangering the economic stability of the national leagues and their clubs,” adds Tebas, opposed from the start to this project launched in 2021 and which shook European football.
Initially supported by Barça, Real and many European clubs, this project suffered a halt when the English clubs withdrew from it. With this new version, A22 hopes to convince Fifa, UEFA and European clubs.
