In Val d’Isère, the 69th edition of the Critérium de la première neige began this Saturday with snowfall. But what clearly cooled the public was the big fall of the local stage Clément Noël. The native of the Vosges, specialist in slalom and winner of the first two World Cup stages in this discipline in Levi and Gurgl, had decided to also align with the giant for this weekend of competition at home. With bib 31 on his back, he set off with great commitment into the Face de Bellevarde before getting on after 45 seconds of racing. His ski got caught in a pole, Clément Noël hit the slope twice before ending up in the safety nets.

Two broken teeth and pain in right ankle

While the public raised their voices to encourage the skier from Val d’Isère, silence returned to the stands. Clément Noël finally got up, before going back down the track very slowly, avoiding leaning on your right side. He explained to the French team staff that he had pain in his right ankle. We also saw Clément Noël with a small trickle of blood coming down from his nose, and especially with the two front teeth broken. After seeing a doctor, he should quickly undergo examinations. We do not know at the moment whether he will be able to start the slalom this Sunday, which he had already won in 2021.
