The verdict has been reached in the Jégou-Auradou case. And inevitably, the dismissal pronounced in favor of the two French rugby players constitutes a shock for the plaintiff, Maria Soledad, a 39-year-old woman who accuses Hugo Auradou and Oscar Jégou of aggravated rape on the night of July 6 to 7 in room 603 of the Diplomatic Hotel in Mendoza.
The plaintiff will appeal
“This decision is unfounded, harmful and very serious,” reacted, disillusioned, Me Natacha Romano, the plaintiff's lawyer. She deplores that certain elements were not taken into account, in particular the report of a hematologist, who mentions that the complainant does not suffer from Willebrand disease (which disrupts blood clotting). The 15 hematomas identified during the filing of the complaint “were minimized” by the courts according to Natacha Romano.
As she explains to The Teamthe plaintiff's lawyer will appeal. She has 15 working days, from the dismissal of the case (i.e. December 10, Editor's note), in order to do so with the collegiate court of Mendoza. She also mentions the possibility of going to cassation as a last resort.
Small clarification: according to the Argentine Penal Code, a possible confirmation of the dismissal of the case on appeal would “finally and irrevocably” close the case. The charges against both players would be completely dropped.
The plaintiff in a deep depression
During his reaction concerning the decision to dismiss the case, Mr.e Natacha Romano gave news of her client. And they really wouldn't be reassuring.
It indicates in particular that the complainant, mother of two children, “is plunged into a deep depression”. “My client is devastated, she can’t get out of bed,” she adds to the Parisian. Maria Soledad would have recently gained “20 kilos”.
