The winter transfer window will open in a few weeks. A perfect opportunity for players lacking playing time to find a new club.
Van der Heyden wants to leave Mallorca
Sieb Van der Heyden, who left the Union to join Mallorca in the summer of 2023, could have to change scenery in January. Indeed, the 26-year-old defender has hardly played since his arrival in Spain. Worse, he still hasn’t had a single minute of playing time this season!
A departure is therefore being considered: “It is clear that, compared to last year, I am much more open to a departure or a loan in January,” he declares in The Last Hour – Sports. “The idea is to find the right solution for me, because I want to play games again and be important for a team again.”
Mallorca will of course have to be willing to cooperate: “I’m obviously not the only one to make this decision. Mallorca will have to agree. But it would be really interesting for me to join a club that can offer me playing time in January.”
Back in Belgium?
Last season, La Gantoise had already expressed its interest, but Van der Heyden preferred to stay in Mallorca. Anderlecht, which is looking for a new central defender, could also look into this matter.
