In the days following December 10, 2010, when the organization of the 2022 FIFA World Cup was awarded to Qatar, the question of heat did not take long to arise. What are the consequences on the performance and health of footballers? To avoid the peaks of over 40°C which roast the small Gulf state during the summer, the decision was taken in 2015 to postpone the tournament to November and December, disrupting the entire international calendar. Such an option has never been mentioned for the next edition of the competition, which will take place between the United States, Canada and Mexico from June 11 to July 19, 2026. A study carried out by a team of researchers from the University of Wroclaw (Poland) and published by the journal Nature suggests that this might have been welcome.
