In 2022, Gouesnou was labeled an “Active and Sporting City” with 2 laurels. A distinction which highlights all the initiatives put in place over several years by the community, sports associations and their numerous volunteers. The athletes’ ceremony is an opportunity to highlight committed volunteers and remarkable sporting performances.

2024 was marked by numerous cycling performances, notably those of Célia Le Mouel, Maëva Squiban, two professional riders licensed at AC Gouesnou, but also those of Gouesnousian Valentin Madouas, who are sponsoring the event this year.
Maeva Squibana member of the Amicale Cycliste de Gouesnou since 2015, came in 2nd place during a stage in the climb from Chinaillon to Grand Bornand in the Alps. Currently in the Arkéa B&B Hôtel team, she will join the prestigious UAE TEAM ADQ team at the beginning of 2025.
Célia Le Mouelwho joined AC Gouesnou at the start of 2024, has performed in several races: Top 10 in the general classification of the Tour de Bretagne 2022, twice in the top 5 of the Tour d’Ardèche, 8th in a stage of the Tour de France 2023, French hopeful time trial champion in 2022, or even Top 20 during the Tour of Great Britain in the foreigner.
Valentin MadouasGouesnousien and Groupama-FDJ rider, has numerous titles in his list of achievements. Coming 10th in the Tour de France in 2022, then Champion of France in 2023, he was a silver medalist at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The City highlights his involvement in local life, he is sponsor of the Ensemble pour Clémence association.
3 medalists from sports, youth and community involvement
In the presence of representatives of the Departmental Committee of Youth, Sports and Associative Engagement Medalists of Finistère (CDMJSEA29), three volunteers received a distinction. Yvonne Guillermvolunteer at Gouesnou Handball since 1990 and member of the office for 33 years, and Renee Donvaltreasurer and volunteer at Pétanque Gouesnousienne, were both decorated with the bronze medal. Bruno Jaouenpresident of Blés d’or and involved in community life in Gouesnou since the age of 15, was the lucky recipient of a silver medalist.
9 trophies awarded to athletes of the year 2024
- Juliette Breton (9 years old) and Neela Blanchard (14 years old) regional roller skating champions: Juliette, a member of the Gouesnou Roller Club since the 2022-2023 season, first won 2 rounds of the Kid’s roller challenge, before becoming champion of the same challenge in 2023-2024. Neela has been roller skating at AC Gouesnou since 2021 and also obtained the title of regional Kid’s Roller champion this year.
- Mickael Mazé – Champion of Finistère head to head in pétanque, among 128 players and qualified for the French championship in Objat, during which he met Clément Duvernay, future French champion, in the 32nd final.
- M’Hamed Merhioui this ”Ben”– Volunteer at FC Gouesnou for 45 years, is a veteran team player, manager, referee for team B, and always present!
- The tennis team over 70 years oldwhich has distinguished itself on numerous occasions during departmental competitions, with for the 2023-2024 season, the title of champion of Finistère +70 years in Concarneau against TC QUIMPER, champion of Brittany in the Caren Cup but also the prize of elegance at the Caren Cup national final.

- Clement le Fur – French U17 Scratch* Champion, licensed at AC Gouesnou, in 2024 he finished 4th in the French Road Championship, very close to the medal.
*Scratching is an individual race over a specific distance where all the runners start at the same time. Although disputed over a velodromethis race is the event that comes closest to road racing. It is not uncommon to see road racers participating and even winning scratch races which require endurance and a good burst of speed.
