The Garnets seem to love getting into trouble before turning things around. This was the case against Ambrì-Piotta then Rapperswil, and now Ajoie. During the first third, Jan Cadieux’s men largely dominated the debates: 19 shots to 5, 1.00 xG against only 0.10 for Ajoie. Unfortunately, the score after these first twenty minutes is 1-1 whereas a 2 or even 3-0 would have been much more logical given the performance of the Genevans. Marc-Antoine Pouliot opened the scoring (6th) before Turkulainen equalized before the end of the third (20th).

The middle period was much more balanced, both teams created many chances but both Conz and Antti Raanta were decisive. Ajoie will still end up taking the advantage thanks to Nättinen’s powerful shot. The Finnish striker from Ajoie found the back of the net in powerplay (37th). 1-2 at the second break, the Garnet were at the bottom of the hole.

And they dug a little further since the Jurassiens put the third at the start of the last third. It was Sopa who was able to realize Veckaktins’ work while the Eagles had spent almost two minutes in the offensive zone (42nd). But as since the start of the week, Jan Cadieux’s men really wanted to win. They returned to work, as a team, with great character, to seek victory. In 13 seconds, the match was over! Tim Berni (6th goal of the season) first, then Josh Jooris. Both players were able to let out their joy and this gave a big boost for the end of the game. We remind you that the GSHC played its fourth match of the week this evening and that inevitably, the legs became heavy as the minutes progressed.

In overtime, as is often the case, the Eagles came out on top. After 18 seconds, it was Markus Granlund who offered his team this 4th success in a row. The Genève-Servette picked up some colors this week.
