Roméo Vermant, the young striker of Club Brugge, has seized his chance in recent weeks and could soon receive his first ever start in the Champions League.
Young Roméo Vermant obviously hopes to be part of the starting eleven for the very first time in his career, in the Champions League, when Club Brugge travels to Celtic this week.
The 20-year-old striker knows that the place will be for him, or for Ferran Jutgla. “It’s up to the coach to make this decision. One thing is certain, I will live in peace with that, whatever happens,” he declared at a press conference this Tuesday.
Reunion time between Roméo Vermant and Arne Engels
Even if he had to sit on the bench, the experience will be unforgettable for Vermant. The trip to Celtic will allow him to reunite with his great friend Arne Engels, transferred to the big Scottish club last summer from Augsburg. The two men have long been teammates in the Club Brugge training center.
“I was sure he would get to that level. It was not a question of if, but when,” Vermant said of Engels. “However, he didn’t want to tell me anything about the match,” smiled the striker.
Regarding the purely sporting plan, Roméo Vermant was cautious about this trip. “It will be a big match, a victory would be important for both teams. With this 6/12, we are on time, but it would be great to score new points at Celtic,” concluded Vermant.
