The 22 members of the International Organizing Committee voted unanimously, Thursday November 21, 2024, for the changes which will take place from the next edition of the tournament (U11-U13), scheduled for April 20 and 21, 2025: “We are going to play on three sites, in Coatserho, of course, in Aurégan, as in 2024, and in Maurice-Marzin, in Ploujean, in more. This will allow us, as requested by the professional clubs, to increase the playing time from 12 to 15 minutes, and to welcome, in each category, 36 teams, compared to 30 last year. And the waiting time between matches will be reduced,” said Victor Thomas, chairman of the committee since June 2024.
La Morlaix Football Cup by Les Internationaux
The tournament will also change its name, to be called La Morlaix Football Cup (MFC), with a new logo: “We want to free ourselves from the “international” label, because it is increasingly complicated, and expensive, to bring in foreign clubs. Their vacations, in addition, do not always correspond to the dates of the tournament. In return, we will bring in more French professional clubs. But we don’t want to shake up habits or confuse the benchmarks! For 2 to 3 years, we will still welcome foreign clubs who wish to do so and we will keep the reference to internationals in the title of the tournament. During this transition period, the tournament will therefore be called La Morlaix Football Cup by the Internationaux,” added Victor Thomas.
