JUSTICE – French marathon record holder Morhad Amdouni will be tried for domestic violence in three months in Seine-et-, we learned this Monday, November 4 from the prosecutor, confirming information from the Parisian.

He is “under judicial supervision pending a hearing scheduled for February 24” for “acts of domestic violence committed between September 2023 and September 2024”told AFP the public prosecutor Jean-Baptiste Bladier, at the Meaux judicial court.

“Another preliminary investigation concerning him is still underway”added the magistrate. The Ile-de- daily specifies that this investigation focuses on acts of rape and sexual assault, always against his partner.

An investigation into rape and sexual assault opened

This French athlete, specialist in the 10,000 meters, was arrested on September 18 at his home in Seine-et-Marne and placed in police custody, according to a police source. According to the Parisian, his partner reportedly said she was the victim of violence after discovering his infidelity. He allegedly tried to strangle her in front of their son, which the athlete denies.

On February 18, Morhad Amdouni broke the French marathon record in Seville, Spain, by completing the 42.195 kilometers in 2 h 03 min 47 s. The athlete, returning from an internship in Kenya, had shattered his own French record to finish second behind the Ethiopian Deresa Gelata and come very close to the European record in the discipline.

However, the 36-year-old marathoner, European 10,000m champion in Berlin in 2018, withdrew from the men's marathon at the Olympics “following an injury to the right calf” occurred during training.
