The president of the French Surfing Federation Jacques Lajuncomme and the treasurer of the Indian Surfing Federation Nawas Jabar, signed the cooperation agreement between the two entities on the occasion of the Indian Ocean & Francophonie Cup which took place was completed on Sunday in Reunion.
Franco-Indian cooperation will enable the exchange of athletes, coaches and supporters, and will promote and strengthen cultural understanding. It will also provide access to different training methods and resources, which can improve the performance of athletes. At the same time, joint events and competitions could increase the popularity of surfing in both countries.
Franco-Indian cooperation has a long tradition in the fields of education, culture, sport, etc. Building on our shared history and now with India’s candidacy for the 2036 Olympic Games, we want to deepen our cooperation in surfing.
The general objective of this cooperation is to promote intercultural understanding, sporting exchanges and the strengthening of surfing in general.
The expansion of Franco-Indian cooperation to general international cooperation also constitutes a realistic and complementary possibility. Trilateral or international cooperation allows Indian and French surfers to compete on the global stage and make international friends. This can go hand in hand with the development of common international standards and rules, as well as fairness and transparency in sport.
