The fifth season of the Basketball Africa League (BAL) will start in Rabat (April 5-13, 2025), with the Kalahari Conference and the participation of FUS, reigning Moroccan champion.
It will be recalled that the Basketball Africa League (BAL) is the first men’s basketball league in Africa. Founded in 2019, the league was created and is co-organized by NBA Africa and the International Basketball Federation (Fiba).
For this season, the national league champions from seven countries (Angola, Egypt, Morocco, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal and Tunisia) will automatically qualify for the BAL. The other five teams will qualify through the “Road to the BAL” qualifying tournaments. » organized by FIBA Africa across the continent from October to December 2024.
Still, Rwanda will not host the Finals in 2025. It is rather Kigali Arena which will host the NIL conference which will take place from May 17 to 25 and finally, it is Pretoria (South Africa). South) which will host for the first time the final phase of the BAL from June 6 to 14, 2025.
The BAL 2025 season will feature the best 12 club teams from 12 African countries playing 48 matches in Rabat (Morocco), Dakar (Senegal), Kigali (Rwanda), and Pretoria (South Africa). The 12 teams will again be divided into three conferences of four teams each. Each conference will play a 12-game group stage in which each team will play the other three teams in its conference twice. Eight teams from the three conferences will then qualify for the Playoffs in Pretoria, which begin on Friday June 6.
