Big news for the Canadiens.
Alex Burrows will not be back behind the Montreal Canadiens bench. According to what Renaud Lavoie announced, it is his decision and not that of the Canadiens organization.
He wanted to spend more time with his family.
Lavoie reports that the Quebecer, who jumped directly behind the Rocket bench when it came time to retire as a player, should have another position in the organization.
This means that the CH will have to start looking for another assistant to roll out its power play. This has been a position that has been criticized in the city for years.
Will the CH choose a Quebecer? Will it go with a veteran, in order to balance the lack of experience behind the bench of Martin St-Louis, Stéphane Robidas and Trevor Letowski?

Note that Burrows did like Kelly Buchberger and Jean-François Houle in Laval: he left on his own initiative. So that makes three men who were not fired, but who are no longer there.
There were also rumors surrounding Martin Lapperière and Patrick Roy’s Islanders, but ultimately it was not him who was named alongside the former Canadian goalie.
Expect a lot of names to be thrown around for this position. After all, CH has the potential to have a great numerical advantage in the coming years with the talent within the club.
