The Toronto Maple Leafs and forward Max Domi agreed to terms on a four-year, $15 million contract extension on Sunday, while Tyler Bertuzzi will be available on the free agency market on Monday.

Domi will receive an annual salary of $3.75 million.

In his first season in the Queen City, Domi scored nine goals and 47 points in 80 games. He added four assists in the playoffs as the Leafs were eliminated in six games against the Boston Bruins.

He signed a one-year, three-million-dollar deal last summer.

This is the first time in his career that he has signed a contract for more than two seasons.

A few hours later, the Leafs reportedly told Bertuzzi’s agent that they will not be able to meet his salary demands, according to tipster Darren Dreger of TSN.

Dreger suggests that Bertuzzi, who came to the Queen City as part of a one-year agreement, will obtain a four-season contract with another club bringing him an amount in excess of $5 million annually.

Drafted 12th overall by the Arizona Coyotes in 2013, Domi has scored 130 goals and collected 417 points in 661 games in his career. He also wore the uniform of the Montreal Canadiens, the Columbus Blue Jackets, the Carolina Hurricanes, the Chicago Blackhawks and the Dallas Stars.

In addition, the Leafs have signed defenseman Timothy Liljegren to a new two-year contract, which will earn him $3 million in the 2024-25 and 2025-26 seasons.

Liljegren, a 25-year-old Swede, has seen his name circulating in trade rumors in recent weeks. The Toronto team would not be satisfied with its progress after being chosen 17th overall in the 2017 draft.

The 6-foot-1 right-hander had 23 points (3-20) in 55 games last year, with a plus-3 rating.

Additionally, Nick Robertson reportedly told staff that he had no intention of accepting a new contract and wanted to be traded.

The restricted free agent recorded 27 points in 56 games last season with the Leafs. He also played nine games with the Marlies. In 87 games in the Bettman circuit, the 22-year-old forward obtained 34 points.
