Facing the wind, the Concarnois quickly came under pressure. In the 3rd minute, Latu Fatafehi, former Tongan international, scored a try from a five-meter scrum. Unconverted, it was quickly followed by a second try from the three-quarter Sablais in the 11th minute, then by a third after a 50/22 exploited by Briat, this time transformed by Hebert (0-17).
The visitors dominated the proceedings and added a fourth try after half an hour thanks to Boutet. Concarneau finally managed to invest the opposing 22 just before the break, without concluding.
A combative but sterile second period
Upon returning from the locker room, the Concarnois increased their intensity. In the 51st minute, a five-meter scrum seemed to offer them the opportunity to score their first points, but a handball annihilated the action. The Sablais continued to press. A brilliant recovery from Naisilisili allowed Hebert to run 80 meters for a converted try. Despite new efforts, Concarneau came up against an intractable Sablaise defense, and a last try from Gutiez in the last ten minutes fixed the score at 0-45.
“We responded in the fight against a great team. Managing the wind was difficult, but we were able to compete against a much heavier opponent. Their dense and balanced defense left us no space,” reacted Nicolas Texier.
