JAKARTA – Two Gresini Racing Federal Oil riders, Marc Marquez and Alex Marquez, took podium positions during the 8th MotoGP series of the 2024 season at the Assen Circuit, Netherlands, Sunday evening.
The Marquez brothers achieved the best results in Assen because both occupied strategic positions in the starting line of the 2024 Dutch MotoGP. In the qualifying session, the Ducati Desmosedici GP23 bike with Alex Marquez was in fourth position with a record time of 1:30.979 seconds, while Marc Marquez was in seventh position with a time of 1,311.378 seconds.
Meanwhile, on Saturday 29/6, Marc Marquez suffered a high-speed accident, fortunately without injury. Meanwhile, Alex Marquez who constantly appears to grab position five was controlled by the condition of the rear tire so that in the remaining two laps his position was far away, even famous for getting a penalty.
“When the race remains two laps, the results can be very different. It’s funny, we struggled a bit at the end with the rear tire problem, but on the other hand we gathered useful information about the important front hard tire before a full session,” Alex Marquez said in a press release received by Antara on Sunday.
“Now we have to make adjustments and tomorrow we will be able to fight for the top five,” Alex said.
On the other hand, Marc Marquez regretted having an accident first. In fact, it was previously confirmed that a team of mechanical experts had prepared the Ducati Desmosedici GP23 to be more comfortable to ride on the Assen circuit, in the Netherlands.
“The positive record is that I could get injured myself and that didn’t happen, especially at half-time. It’s a shame for this race because the feeling of the bike is extraordinary and now we have to turn it around when the session heats up,” said Marc Marquez.
In the 2024 MotoGP World Championship title race, Marc Marquez is third in the standings with 136 points. He is 44 points behind Jorge Martin at the top of the standings with 180 points. While Alex Marquez is in 10th place with 53 points.
