At Murrayfield, the Chardon XV dominated the Wallabies 27-13, depriving them of a grand slam in the United Kingdom on this November tour.
The Wallabies will not succeed in the grand slam in Great Britain. After winning in England then in Wales, Australia lost this Sunday at Murrayfield against the Chardon XV.
Led by Toulouse’s Blair Kinghorn, named man of the match, and Finn Russell, the Scots scored four tries, compared to just one at the very end of the match for Australia, for a big victory.
Van der Merwe recovers his record
Winger Duhan van der Merwe reclaimed his record tries for Scotland by scoring 30e under the thistle jersey. His team’s second after their captain, Sione Tuipulotu, struck first. Josh Bayliss scored the third before Finn Russell finished a superb three-quarter move to score the fourth try. It was winger, and novice, Harry Potter, who scored the Wallabies’ only try.
There remains one last test to play for the Wallabies, next Saturday in Ireland (4:10 p.m.), to finish their tour of the United Kingdom.
Scotland is done. For a record of three victories (Fiji, Portugal, Australia) for a defeat against the South African world champions.
