The International Football Federation (FIFA) has set the date of July 3 as the deadline for sending the official lists of the selected selections.
The delay in Sektioui’s announcement is believed to be due to the fact that many European clubs are reluctant to release their players.
The Olympic Games are not actually included in the calendar drawn up by FIFA, unlike the Euro or the World Cup, and clubs are not obliged to release their players.
Sektioui’s list could therefore be considerably reduced.
As a reminder, the Atlas Lion Cubs first face Argentina, on July 24 at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard in Saint-Étienne, then Ukraine, on the 27 in the same stadium, before facing Iraq on 30 at the Allianz Riviera in Nice.
Morocco has taken part in seven editions of the Olympic Games: in 1964, 1972, 1984, 1992, 2000, 2004 and 2012. The best performance is a qualification for the second round in 1972.
