Tan-Tan – The High Commission for former resistance fighters and former members of the liberation army organized, Friday evening in Tan-Tan, a meeting to commemorate the 68th anniversary of the launch of the first operations of the liberation army in the south of the Kingdom.

In a speech delivered on this occasion, the High Commissioner for former resistance fighters and former members of the liberation army, Mustafa El Ktiri indicated that this anniversary is an important historical step in the process of the national struggle for freedom, independence and territorial integrity and an event which testifies to the strong ties which unite the Moroccan people to the glorious Alawite throne.

Mr. El Ktiri stressed that this anniversary is an opportunity to recall the historical context of this important national event, to understand its dimensions and its significance, to draw the necessary lessons and to highlight the heroic struggle led by the populations of the southern provinces in the epic of the throne and the people and their historical positions following the return from exile of the late HM Mohammed V and the illustrious royal family.

He added that this anniversary reflects the sacrifices of the courageous populations of these regions for the defense of religious values ​​and national constants against the expansionist ambitions of foreign occupation, adding that the populations of these regions participated with enthusiasm and patriotism in all the fights launched by the hero of liberation, independence and unity, the late HM Mohammed V, since his return from exile.

Among these epics, he said, are the battles against the French colonial forces in the regions of Oum Al Achar, Mergala, Laaouinate, Lamsid and Dcheira, until the recovery of Tarfaya in 1958, thanks to the strong determination, strong will, unwavering faith and symbiosis between the people and the throne.

This meeting, which took place in the presence of the secretary general of the province of Tan-Tan, Ali Bouksseim, was marked by the tribute paid to a group of former resistance fighters and former members of the liberation army and the distribution of financial aid, totaling more than 356,000 dirhams, to former resistance fighters and their widows.
