The Mauritanian Federation has just announced the withdrawal of the national team coach, Comorian Amir Abdo, after failing to qualify the “Mourabitines” for the final phase of the “Morocco 2025” African Cup of Nations.

At the end of an emergency meeting of its board of directors, the FFRIM indicates that: “Cooperation with Amir Abdo was interrupted by mutual agreement between the two parties”, a few days after the coach failed to reach the final phase of the Morocco 2025 Africa Cup of Nations with the national team.

“It was agreed between the president of the federation and Abdo (52), originally from the Comoros, to terminate the contract by mutual agreement between the two parties.”

The Mauritanian national team failed to qualify for CAN 2025 in Morocco, despite its victory last Tuesday against Cape Verde (1-0), during the sixth and final day of the qualifiers.

Supporters of the Mauritanian national team hoped that it would do better in this continental competition, especially after it managed during the final phase of the previous edition in Ivory Coast to qualify for the second round after its historic victory against Algeria
