Thousands of Quebec Remparts supporters celebrated the 12th with dignitye conquest of the Vanier Cup by the Rouge et Or of University, Saturday afternoon, before the initial puck drop of their favorites’ match against the Drummondville Voltigeurs.

For the occasion, the Red Devils organization opened the doors of the Videotron Center earlier than usual to allow spectators who had tickets to watch the Vanier Cup final from Kingston.

From 12:30 p.m., the spectators gradually settled into the stands. At the start of the third quarter, there were a few hundred of them watching attentively at the scoreboard screens.

However, it was after the warm-up period for both teams that real excitement set in within the amphitheater. In the second half of the fourth quarter, every good shot from the Rouge et Or players was warmly applauded.

Then, the crowd came alive as the Laurier University Golden Hawks took possession of the ball for the final two plays of the game. Everyone felt that the championship was within reach, despite a missed field goal by Felipe Forteza in the last minute of play.

The Rouge et Or finally won 22 to 17, to the great pleasure of the crowd in Quebec. Watch in main video.

In the third period, the crowd announcer announced that members of the Rouge et Or would be visiting the Videotron Center on the 1stis next December before the Remparts’ match against the Chicoutimi Saguenéens.
