MotoGP Netherlands Assen J3, Jorge Martin (Ducati/2): “Bagnaia was on another level, he played with me”

Another second place for Jorge Martin in Assen, but this one is actually a very good result. Well behind Bagnaia in the Sprint, he himself admitted that he could not compete with the Italian, who was above him on one of his favourite circuits. After immediately getting rid of his penalty – which made him start in fifth position, Jorge Martin did not even try to catch up with the official Ducati. He tried to make another move at a few crucial moments later in the race, but nothing worked.

Impossible to be disappointed with such a performance, finished almost three seconds ahead of his closest pursuer, Enea Bastianini.
“I gave everything, I couldn’t have done more.
I erased my penalty and moved into second position. I felt good even with the medium tire; I was going faster than expected. However,
Pecco was on a whole new level today »
admitted the 2018 Moto3 world champion in the columns of Sky Sports. It is true that he was the only one in the group of “favorites” to wear the medium at the front and not the hard tire.

He pursues : “I am happy because we also made up for the difficulties of Friday and Saturday morning, we came back well. There was no point in taking risks, and I had never been on the podium here before ». He climbs onto his 50th career podium, a great accomplishment.

As for Pecco Bagnaia, who he still leads by ten points in the general classification, he is adamant: he would never have been able to catch up with him. « He managed, he played with me. Even if I had passed him at the start, I would never have been able to follow him. Today, the best thing was to finish second; he was so fast everywhere. In turn 6, it’s like he’s not braking.. We will try again at the Sachsenring” he concluded, determined to drive the point home in Germany where he had won twice in 2023.
