MotoGP – Two Aprilia forfeits the race at Assen

Maverick Viñales will be the only one of the three factory Aprilias entered at Assen to start the Dutch Grand Prix. The Italian manufacturer had a black Saturday, during which Lorenzo Savadori and Aleix Espargaro both crashed.

In the evening, the Greens announced the withdrawal of their Wildcard, who suffered multiple fractures to the lumbar region after falling in the sixth lap of the Sprint. However, there was still hope for the end of the weekend for Aleix Espargaro.

Author of a complicated Saturday, No. 41 fell multiple times. His fall in Sprint was, however, more violent than the previous ones. The Catalan then remained on the ground for a long time.

Taken to the medical center to carry out in-depth examinations, it was decided that the latter would not participate in the Warm Up, just like in this Sunday’s race.

Espargaro suffered a metacarpal fracture on a finger on his right hand, and will therefore have to take time to recover before returning to the track. It remains to be seen whether Aleix Espargaro will be able to take part in next week’s German Grand Prix, the last round of this first part of the season before the three-week break imposed by the summer break.

“#41 has taken the decision to miss the remainder of the Grand Prix in the Netherlands. The aim will be to speed up the recovery from a fracture in the fifth metacarpal of his right hand. All hopes turn to next weekend’s Grand Prix at the Sachsenring.” tells us the official announcement.
