MotoGP Netherlands Assen J1, Luca Marini (Honda/23) at 2.2 seconds: “The gap is – a little – too big”

The ordeal continues for Luca Marini in Assen. Rarely have we seen an official rider in such great difficulty since the appearance of the MotoGP championship in 2002. Consistent in last place, it is hard to believe that Luca Marini was one of the leaders of the top 10 last year, even present on the podiums. Always a consistent rider, he is one of the few who have not yet fallen in Grand Prix this year but his problem lies elsewhere. He seriously lacks speed, as does confidence in his equipment.

The weekends follow one another and are all the same for Marini.
“Today we worked to get the most out of our package, trying to improve with adjustments. I was aiming for something more because the gap is a bit too big, but everyone is very fast this weekend » he declared yesterday at the end of the first day. Indeed, the gap is even abysmal; more than two seconds separated him from Pecco Bagnaia, and almost a full second from Johann Zarco, the best representative of the winged firm.

At Honda, we have a hard time making steps forward, and when we do, others make even more progress.
« We have to find something for tomorrow and the team has already started working so I’m sure we can do it. Our feelings are good, we just need more performance. We are progressing, like the others,
We must therefore seek a major breakthrough »
continued the main person concerned.

Luca isn’t mentioned much in this crazy transfer seasonHe could well continue with Honda as is expected for his teammate Joan Mir, but we reported some time ago that the two were looking for a way out. Case to follow.
