The Boxers’ victory on Tuesday evening was a good way to respond to criticism (7-0). By signing their biggest success of the season against Gap, Olivier Dimet’s players showed that they were capable of demonstrating offensive efficiency. It remains to be seen if they will manage to do it again with a higher ranked team, this Friday, on the ice of Chamonix (8:05 p.m.). Remember that for their first confrontation of the season, at Mériadeck, the Bordelais won without sharing (5-0).
Once again, the visitors’ ability to be effective in front of the cage will be one of the keys against Tom Aubrun, Chamonix goalkeeper and 4th best goalkeeper in the league with 90.65% of saved shots.
“We will have to assume”
A statistic which is not foreign to Baptiste Bruche. The French striker, in the group after a month of absence (foot fracture), remains on one assist and two goals in as many matches since his return from injury. He is already developing strategies to put Aubrun in as much difficulty as possible: “We are going to have to assume our offensive style of play and make the goalkeeper’s evening difficult,” he warns. We have to put traffic in front of the cages, try and be present for rebounds. With all this, I’m sure Tom will eventually break down. Well, I hope so (smile). »
Not sure, however, that this will scare the Pionniers goalkeeper, who has gotten into the habit of distinguishing himself in recent weeks by enduring multiple attacks from the top 5 teams. If Chamonix remains on a victory in the lair of Rouen at the start of week (2-3), the team previously lost successively against Amiens (4th), Grenoble (1st), Angers (2nd) and Marseille (5th).
A bad patch which the Boxers hope to take advantage of to preserve their unbeaten streak (4 matches). And prepare for what comes next. “We’re going on quite a bit at the moment,” notes Baptiste Bruche. The accumulation of matches resembles what we experienced in the play-offs. It’s good preparation.
