Logan Sargeant moved up to SQ2 during Austria’s Sprint Qualifying. The Williams F1 driver beat his teammate and is happy with his 15th place, even if he would have liked to do better in the second phase of qualifying.
“I gave it my all. To be honest, the first session was a good preparation, and I wanted to do better in the second but I went off a bit. I didn’t manage turns 1 and 3 and I knew I had to do something special on the rest of the lap.” Sargeant said.
“To be honest, I managed it, but I hit the gravel in turn 6 and that was it. But I’m happy with what I did, happy with the way I prepared and I think it’s a good position to start from tomorrow.”
“The conditions change between each session, you have to be proactive with the settings, on the tools. I think we did a good job, we turned the situation around between the EL and the Sprint Qualifying, so I will continue to do the same thing.”
Alex Albon was not satisfied with his balance on the track: “Honestly, they weren’t mistakes, I wasn’t good in turns 3 and 4. I had a bad balance and I couldn’t improve it, I tried to play on the driving style and it didn’t work. Overall we only had one chance in Sprint Qualifying.”
The Thai driver thinks he should have changed more settings before the Sprint Qualifying to perform better: “I regret not having been more extreme in my changes between the free and the qualifier. We will make changes to get more out of it tomorrow.”
