End of the European adventure for the LHC – Lausanne HC

End of the European adventure for the LHC – Lausanne HC
End of the European adventure for the LHC – Lausanne HC

The Lions lost to Genève-Servette HC at the Patinoire des Vernet (7-4). The post-match is presented to you by our main partner, Vaudoise Assurances.

Plenty of space from the start of the meeting

Both teams started this return match on a high with numerous chances on both sides. Particularly in form in the first third, Damien Riat showed the way to his teammates by scoring a double in the first 20 minutes. Two goals which allowed Geoff Ward’s men to stay level with their opponents who took advantage of the spaces left in front of Kevin Pasche’s cage to score two goals in the space of a few seconds.

The rest of the debates will go in the direction of the local players and especially the man of the evening Vincent Praplan. Already a scorer in the first third, the Geneva striker will turn the match in his direction with five points scored, including a quadruple. The LHC tried despite everything to stay on pace, but it was ultimately Genève-Servette HC which won in this return match and which moved on to the next round of the Champions Hockey League final stages.

Exit from the road for the LHC in CHL

The Lausanne Hockey Club is therefore eliminated during this first round of the CHL final phases. Despite the end of this European adventure, we can remember the good performance of our players during the group phase. Indeed, at the end of the first six matches, our Lions had finished in 3rd place in the general ranking among 24 European teams.
