Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly competing with Arsenal, Barcelona and Bayern Munich for Everton star Amadou Onana.

Onana has been an exceptional player for Belgium during Euro 2024. In a Belgian team that has struggled to find its rhythm, Onana has been a beacon of hope and creativity. His ability to recover balls, both in the air and on the ground, was decisive. The Everton midfielder recovered 18 balls and won 70% of his duels during the group stage. In addition, the accuracy of his passes was exceptional, with a success rate of 92%, or 159 passes out of 173.

According to Foot Mercato, PSG are actively looking to strengthen their midfield and see Onana as a perfect fit. The financial aspects of the deal also make Onana an attractive option for PSG. With Everton needing to sell to balance their books, Onana could be available for a transfer fee of between €55 million (£47 million/$59 million) and €60 million (£51 million/$55 million), significantly less than the €100 million (£85 million/$107 million) Benfica are asking for Joao Neves.

Interest in Onana is not new. During the winter transfer window, FC Barcelona made contact with Onana’s entourage. However, due to financial constraints, the Catalan club was unable to pursue the transfer. Manchester United have also been following Onana for several months. Despite their long-standing interest, the Red Devils are now focusing on signing Manuel Ugarte, which leaves the door open for other clubs, including Arsenal and Bayern Munich, to snap up Onana.

Onana’s stock continues to rise as he proves his worth on the international stage. His physical qualities, such as his size and strength, combined with his technical abilities, make him a versatile midfielder. He is comfortable both as a defensive midfielder and in a more advanced role, allowing him to adapt to different tactical setups. The upcoming match against France in the round of 16 will be an important test for Onana, who will have the opportunity to showcase her skills against one of the tournament favorites.
