LOSC is preparing to celebrate its 80th anniversary this Sunday, an event which was briefly marred by the rant of Christophe Galtier, French champion in 2021. Olivier Létang, questioned about it, explained himself.
Three weeks ago, at the end of October, LOSC continued its communication campaign around its 80th anniversary by publishing a poster on its social networks. This was adorned with a huge 80, a number in which the events and significant men in the history of LOSC are found: from Jean Baratte to Benjamin André, from Michel Seydoux to Olivier Létang, from Vahid Halilhodžić to Rudi Garcia… But not Christophe Galtier, although a LOSC player from 1987 to 1990, but also and above all a LOSC coach from 2017 to 2021. This absence had irritated the main person concerned, who had publicly expressed his dissatisfaction.
A few days before the big party, which will take place this Sunday, November 24 around the Stade Rennais reception (3 p.m.) on behalf of the twelfth day of Ligue 1, Olivier Létang was invited to return to this lively controversy: “I had Christophe (Galtier), who unfortunately cannot be there because he playsbegins Olivier Létang, special guest of l’After Foot. Coach of Al-Duhail in Qatar, the former Lille player will face Al Arabi (Isaac Lihadji's club) the day before (November 23 at 1 p.m.). In fact, the problem is that it was done by an agency with the club's marketing team. There was 80 years of history with lots of people. I think Christophe deserved to be on it, but there is another coach who would have deserved to be on it, it's Claude Puel. I think he deserved it. There are plenty of people who are unfortunately not on it”seems to regret the president of LOSC.
“He has control over the marketing team, because Olivier Létang is on it”Florent Gautreau laughs around the set, provoking laughter from Daniel Riolo.
“I don't have any control over it, and then I'm in smallquickly responds the Lille leader.
I shouldn't have been there, that's my opinion. I assure you, I discovered it like you. I shouldn't have been on it. The marketing team is doing a wonderful job and I think it's going to be a great party. We are going to face a club which is in difficulty today, but we know that it is going to be a very difficult match. Everything that happens around the match is going to be fun. I am only the heir of what happened before, and what I want is to pass the club on in very good conditions to whoever arrives next. We must take and preserve these territorial assets”he concluded thus, on the radio waves RMC.
