CFL: The Alouettes extend Tyrice Beverette’s contract

The Alouettes have granted a one-year contract extension to American linebacker Tyrice Beverette, meaning he will remain with the Montreal team until at least 2026.

Beverette was already under contract with the Birds ahead of the 2025 Canadian League season.

He took part in all of the team’s matches as a starter. The six-foot-three, 203-pounder finished first in the league with 137 defensive plays and finished fourth in the league with 102 tackles. The 29-year-old American also led the CFL with four forced fumbles, in addition to intercepting two passes and making five sacks.

These statistics also allowed him to be named to the CFL all-star team in 2024, in addition to being a finalist for the title of defensive player of the year in the Canadian circuit. The Stony Brook University alumnus was also unanimously named the Alouettes’ MVP and defensive player.

“Tyrice had quite a year with us. He is definitely one of our defensive leaders and this signing is huge for our team,” said Alouettes general manager Danny Maciocia. I remain convinced that the best is yet to come for him. In 2025, he will play his fourth year with the Alouettes, and I sincerely believe that he will continue his success.

Beverette arrived in Montreal in 2022, after spending two seasons with the Hamilton Tigers-Cats.
