Ninth day of the Vendée Globe… Thomas Ruyant is in 6th position out of 39 sailors entered, he is looking for speed before the dreaded Doldrums, an intertropical zone with unstable weather.

Still leader Monday November 18, 2024, Jean Le Cam (Everything begins in Finistère – Armor-Lux), passed between Cape Verde and the African coasts, but who has now headed west, has fallen in the ranking since he is now in 13th position, almost 150 miles behind Sam Goodchild.

“The conditions are perfect to make the machine move forward. It moves on its own. So I let it express itself!”summarized Sébastien Simon (2nd on Groupe Dubreuil) to the organizers.

“Practically everyone has now returned to double-digit speeds and over the last four hours a large half of the fleet has been traveling at an average of 20, even 25 knots!“, Pierre Hays, deputy race director, told AFP.
