Saadallah Yacine is one of the 5 candidates for the presidency of Wydad of Casablanca. In this interview, he details his thoughts on his candidacy, his projects, his vision and much more.

Former player of Wydad de Casablanca, Yacine Saadallah is one of the five candidates for the presidency of the Reds. It will be decided, as well as its four competitors (Hicham Aït Menna, Anas Korami, Karam Nassik and Atef Touz), at the end of the general assembly scheduled for July 3.

Well known within the WAC family, Yacine Saadallah is originally from Casablanca, more precisely from the old medina. He held various positions within different Reds management offices, alongside Tayeb Fechtali, Abdelilah Menjra and Abdelillah Akram. He also served as president of the hockey and handball sections.

For the former secretary general of the WAC during the Akram era, the first action he will undertake if he becomes president will be to strengthen the first team, the showcase of Wydad. He will engage with a high-calibre coach (whose name remains confidential for the moment) and will recruit three high-level players who will bring “very great added value to the team”.

For him, it is indisputable that Wydad must aim for the Moroccan championship, Botola Pro Inwi, as a minimum objective. His ambition is to prepare the club for the Club World Cup under its new format of 32 teams. Saadallah Yacine wants to avoid the mistakes of the past editions in 2018 in the United Arab Emirates and in 2022 in Morocco, where Wydad was eliminated in the first matches.

Saadallah aspires to make Wydad autonomous, by making the club an institution capable of investing and generating income through sponsorship and merchandising, in particular by taking advantage of the logo in the sale of jerseys and other items bearing the Wydad brand.
