It will not be a surprise to anyone but the announcement has the merit of being made official to dispel any doubt that might still remain. Aston Martin has confirmed Lance Stroll’s contract extension for several seasons, beyond his current commitment until the end of the season.

Without specifying the duration, the team whose owner is none other than the businessman Lawrence Stroll, father of the Canadian driver, specifies that this new agreement will see Lance Stroll race under its colors including during the new era regulatory which will begin in 2026.

“I am very pleased to commit to staying with the team for 2025 and beyond”announced the 25-year-old driver this Thursday, ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix. “It’s amazing to see where we’ve come in the last five years, we’ve grown a lot collectively and there’s still a lot to do, I can’t wait.”

Holder of a pole position and three podiums since his debut in Formula 1 with Williams in 2017, Lance Stroll joins a 2025 grid that continues to fill up, while Pierre Gasly also extended his contract today, at Alpine.

Stroll currently occupies 11th place in the championship with 17 points, his teammate Fernando Alonso having scored 41. The double world champion also extended his contract a few weeks ago, which will see the pair remain stable in the ranks of the Silverstone team for years to come.

“We are delighted to confirm Lance’s future with Aston Martin”says director Mike Krack. “He has played a key role in building this team. His technical feedback, as well as his work in the simulator, has contributed to the continued development of the car each season. The consistency and stability in having both Lance and Fernando who remaining part of the team provide an excellent foundation to continue achieving our ambitions. We look forward to creating more fond memories and achieving success together.”
