Leon Draisaitl can sign a new pact with the Edmonton Oilers starting July 1, but it looks like this signing won’t come in a hurry.

According to number 29, it could take some time to understand what he wants and what the Oilers want: “It’s going to take time to understand what I want and what the Oilers want!”.

Along the way, he still said that he loved being a member of the Edmonton Oilers more than anything.

Next season, Draisaitl will complete the final campaign of his $68 million deal, signed for a period of eight years. This pact also allows him to pocket an average salary of $8.5 million.

With the quality of player he is, it’s definitely a godsend for the Oilers, but Leon’s clan will certainly demand more than 14 million dollars by moving to “GO”.

His agent Andy Scott certainly has the objective of bringing his client to the top of the highest paid players on the Bettman circuit. Currently, at the top of the list, the prize goes to Auston Matthews, who will receive, from 2024-25, an average salary of $13.25 million.

Draisaitl, who played despite breaking a rib and another in a finger in the playoffs, reached the 100-point plateau (106) for the fifth time in his career in 2023-24. Since the launch of his career in the NHL, he has a record of 850 points, including 347 goals, in 719 duels.
