Launched at a thunderous pace in Stuttgart, Serhou Guirassy continues with the same dynamic in Dortmund and is today one of the finalists for the title of best African player of the year.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) narrowed the list of nominees for the title of best African player of the year on Monday, halving the number of candidates. There are now five of them: the finalists are Simon Adingra (CIV), Serhou Guirassy (Guinea), Achraf Hakimi (Morocco), Ademola Lookman (Nigeria) and Ronwen Williams (AFS).
Marseillais Chancel Mbemba, Amine Gouiri and Soufiane Rahimi were notably eliminated. The CAF Awards 2024 ceremony will take place on December 16, in Marrakech, Morocco, where Serhou Guirassy could well be the lucky winner. In the event of a final victory, he would succeed Victor Osimhen, also a former member of the Lille house.
Transferred to Borussia Dortmund for 18 million euros this summer, the Guinean international has adapted well to his new environment, scoring nine goals and providing four assists in thirteen appearances in all competitions. Last season, Serhou Guirassy scored 30 times in as many games played.
