Top seed or not?
FIFA has not yet communicated the process of the qualifying draw which will be held on December 13 in Zurich. According to certain media, it seems certain that Belgium will be one of the twelve seeds, because this status is promised to the eight teams which will compete in the quarter-finals of the Nations League in March – which is therefore not our case – and would also be the same for the four other nations best placed in the FIFA rankings, like England and us.
But it remains to be seen whether this will be the case. “FIFA will communicate on the complete draw procedure as well as the designation of the seeds at the end of the month.UEFA replied to us, confirming that nothing is yet certain.
Win your group
Even if the Devils are seeded, qualification – which should begin in June – could be difficult. Beating Ukraine, Serbia, Turkey or Slovakia is no longer obvious. A Scotland or a Slovenia in pot 3, neither. Only the twelve group winners will qualify directly for the tournament. The twelve runners-up, as well as four drafted Nations League group winners, will compete for the last four tickets via play-offs spread over two rounds in single matches. Beware of falling.
