Vincent Labrune rewarded by club presidents
The time when Frédéric Thiriez was a volunteer president of the LFP… In office since September 2020, Vincent Labrune has a fairly comfortable salary, which was even increased during the deal concluded by the commercial company LFP Medias in 2022. “ The League’s board of directors, in this case the club presidents, who are sovereign over this type of decision, have decided to increase my remuneration to 1.2 million euros gross annually.«
And to justify this leap forward in his remuneration, which has more than tripled since his induction at the head of the LFP, Vincent Labrune simply believes that he has been rewarded for his good work. “ Considering that the investment that had been mine, the responsibilities that are mine, in relation to the crisis experienced and the successes encountered, this deserved this type of remuneration since September 2022“, affirmed the president of the LFP in front of the national representation.
No re-invoicing system with LFP Medias
Regarding the controversy sparked by a possible re-invoicing system between the LFP and the commercial company LFP Medias, aimed at inflating his remuneration, Vincent Labrune denied the existence of such a process: “ I am president of the LFP and it is the LFP legal entity which is president of LFP Medias. My remuneration is borne entirely and exclusively by the LFP, set and validated by the board of directors.«
By adding the bonus paid as a business provider in the deal between the League and CVC, up to 3 million euros, the soup is pretty good for Vincent Labrune. At the same time, French football is afraid for its financial future, with no agreement having been found for Ligue 1 TV rights now a month and a half before the start of the next financial year.
