Reug Reug’s trainer, Ramzi Yahia, recently raised the possibility of a classic fight between his protégé and Francis Ngannou. During his appearance on the Galaxie Sport show broadcast Monday on RTS1, he confirmed that this confrontation is currently being studied. “We are currently studying the feasibility. It’s a confrontation that fans want, so if it’s feasible, we will go,” he said.

This potential clash would pit two major figures in African MMA against each other. Reug Reug, just crowned world heavyweight champion at One Championship after a resounding victory against Anatoly Malykhin, seems determined to push his limits. Not content with this prestigious title, he harbors the ambition to conquer new heights, notably the 100 kilo championship, while keeping an eye on the Professional Fighters League (PFL), where Francis Ngannou currently reigns as heavyweight champion .

For the Senegalese, each fight is a challenge, and no opponent should be excluded. “I am a sportsman. My goal is to take on the best and surpass myself,” he said. This conquering mentality seems to lead him straight towards a duel against Cameroonian Francis Ngannou, former UFC champion and true world icon of MMA.

Such a fight could mark a turning point in the history of combat sports in Africa. Beyond the sporting aspect, it would also be a celebration of African talent on the international stage. “It would be the biggest fight in the history of the African continent,” enthused Reug Reug.
