It doesn’t look good for Samuel Eto’o. Summoned today to Cairo by Caf, for an investigation opened a year ago, the president of Fécafoot is at great risk.

Samuel Eto’o, the president of the Cameroonian Football Federation (Fécafoot), will have to answer for his actions. The Cameroonian leader is expected in the coming hours in Cairo (Egypt), at the headquarters of the Confederation of African Football (Caf), regarding the investigation opened against him for almost a year. The former Indomitable Lion will therefore have to justify himself in the face of the accusations of favoritism and match-fixing to which he is the subject.
As a reminder, Eto’o would have helped the Victoria United club to move up to the first division (Elite One) in 2022-2023. An audio recording, where he exchanges and seems to conclude an agreement with Valentin Nkwain, the president of this formation, had also leaked and caused a lot of noise on social networks.
While the trial will open this Tuesday, Eto’o, already interviewed in April, risks suspension of his functions according to rumors. As informed by journalist Paul Chouta, who suggests that Céline Eko, 1st vice-president of Fécafoot, would already be ready, in the event of the suspension of the former Indomitable Lion, to take over as interim head of the body. .
According to Camfoot, many Cameroonian clubs feel wronged because they did not wish to go in the same direction as Samuel Eto’o’s ideas: Etoile Filante de Garoua, Ums de Loum, Njalla Quan Academy, Unisport de Bafang, Union from Abong-Bang, Bamboutos from Mbouda or even Kadji Sport Academy. The leaders of these teams, like many other players in Cameroonian football, hope to see Eto’o fall.

Plus the matter of the contract signed with 1Xbet…
The Barça legend will also have to defend himself in the case of alleged conflict of interest for his contract signed with the sports betting company 1Xbet, and which has also deleted all publications relating to this subject from his social networks. It is on these files that Caf will deliberate.
Even if it is clear in the collective memory that things that did not comply with the rules were done, demonstrating it in order to declare the president of Fécafoot guilty is another challenge. The undermining work carried out by his teams by removing certain elements of evidence reflects a sort of admission of guilt. A guilt which is not declared by simple words, but which is demonstrated by means of tangible evidence before the jury of the continental instance.
Anything which therefore involves waiting for the “white smoke” from Cairo.
But in the meantime, Samuel Eto’o would consider seizing the Tas (Court of Arbitration for Sport) to counter-attack.
